What can you do with the calendar integration?
With the calendar integration, you connect TimeChimp to your Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook (Office) calendar. This means you spend less time manually entering hours and can better align your schedule and time tracking.
The calendar integration works both ways:
Import — pull appointments from your calendar and use them for time tracking
Export — show your TimeChimp data in your own calendar (Google or Outlook)
Link your calendar to TimeChimp
Click on your initials in the top right > My settings. Then choose Calendar connections. Select Log in with Outlook. You will be redirected to an Outlook login page. Log in, accept access for TimeChimp, and voilà! Your calendar is now linked to TimeChimp.
Request access via Microsoft Azure
In some organizations, you are not allowed to link external apps to your Microsoft account yourself. Your IT administrator will need to grant admin consent before TimeChimp can access your Outlook calendar. If so, you will see a screen similar to the one below.
Under 'Reason', you can enter the text below so your administrator has a clear request. You can then request approval.
I want to link TimeChimp to my Outlook calendar to import appointments for time tracking and to use Suggestions.
Do you want your employees to be able to link their calendars too? Then a connection must first be made by an Admin in TimeChimp who also has the correct permissions in the Azure environment.
In many organizations, Microsoft admin consent is required before employees can link TimeChimp to Outlook.
TimeChimp only requests read access to calendars; no changes will be made in Outlook.
After approval from your IT department
Wait until your administrator has approved the request (you sometimes receive an email from Microsoft or your IT department).
Go back to TimeChimp → My account → Calendar connections.
Click Log in with Office again and complete the link.
Tracking time using the connection
Attention! Make sure your browser allows pop-ups.
You can now track time using the integration. To do this, go to the registration screen. Select the day view. Click on the calendar icon. This opens a sidebar where your calendar items will appear. You can use these as a basis for your time entries. TimeChimp retrieves the title, start time, end time, and duration of your appointments. You only need to choose the correct client, project, and activity.
Exporting TimeChimp data to your calendar
You can also synchronize TimeChimp to your own calendar via an iCal URL. Click on your initials in the top right > My settings. Then choose Calendar connections.
Copy the URL Under Export to your calendar, copy the URL you need:
Tracked hours — your entered hours
Scheduled hours — only visible with planning permissions
Add the URL in Outlook
Open Outlook Calendar.
Go to Add calendar → Subscribe from web.
Paste the copied TimeChimp URL.
Confirm the subscription.
Your TimeChimp data will then appear as calendar items in your own calendar.
The synchronization works via iCal and is not a direct OAuth connection like with importing.
